UU, craven -

I got the email last night and about flipped a gourd. Definitely going VIP again this year. I ate lunch with Jorma and Jack last year in the VIP/Artist Caterng tent, had dinner with Sam Cutler (he's still wasted). You better believe I'm gonna take a chance to sit and eat with Ricky Skaggs, Jerry Douglas, Dan Tyminski and Alison Krauss.

FloydFest is a phenomenon all unto its own. There is certainly an abundance of artists to see but the schedule is arranged so the big names rarely conflict, or if there is overlap, it's only the first or last 15 minutes of a 90 minute set. Since most of the bands play two (or more sets) you can almost always deconflict the schedule and see everyone you want to.

You do have to pace yourself though since the music starts around 10 AM and runs well into the wee hours. The Late Night Global Village stage draws a great crowd and energetic bands - I saw the Pimps of Joytime play from 1 AM until 4 AM two years ago. Papadosio played from 12:30 AM until 5:45 AM one year - it was insane. By Saturday evening you can be pretty wiped out with a full Sunday set of shows in front of you.

I can't wait.........

Hey Rick!

Any good music up in Vah Beach or ORF this weekend?
